Lake George Winery, a family-owned and operated establishment nestled along the shores of the enigmatic Lake George in the Canberra region wine district, conveniently located within a scenic 30-minute drive from both Canberra and Goulburn. The Canberra region has a rich history in winemaking, dating back to the 1840s when the first vines were planted. It was not until the 1970s that the cool-climate wineries experienced a renaissance, thanks to the efforts of CSIRO scientists who conducted extensive research on vineyard locations, grape selection, and traditional winemaking methods. Over the past 50 years, the Canberra region has flourished, now boasting three distinct wine regions across Murrumbateman, Yass, Canberra, Hall, Bungendore, Wamboin, Gundaroo, Lake George, and Collector. Our winery venue offers a breathtaking setting for weddings, special events, and unforgettable celebrations. Our stunning dining room exudes elegance, featuring captivating elements such as an inviting open fireplace, polished rustic floor boards, and a spacious verandah that affords picturesque views of our estate. Moreover, our cellar showcases a stunning stone feature wall, perfectly complementing the unique charm of our wine museum. Our dining room has the capacity to seat 120 people in a formal capacity, or up to 300 people for a standing cocktail-style reception. Complete with rustic polished floorboards, an open fireplace and large windows to overlook the vineyard and rural landscape, our dining room has the capacity to seat 120 people in a formal capacity, or up to 300 people for a standing cocktail-style reception. Our stunning dining room exudes elegance, featuring captivating elements such as an inviting open fireplace, polished rustic floor boards, and a spacious verandah that affords picturesque views of our estate.
Set downstairs from our formal dining room, the cellar is a unique venue in its own right. Featuring a rock wall and subtle lighting and set amongst our wine museum, this space is ideal as a wet weather option, and can also be used for VIP section for bridal parties, pre-dinner drinks, or to hold your reception for an intimate event.
Located on the property next to the vines, the oak tree offers a rural setting which will be set with 15 white chairs, wine barrels and an arch for the bride and groom to stand under.
Set in vineyard, the Vines ceremony spot is a dramatic walk through the vines to the ceremony site. Easy access for guests and amazing memories are made here at Lake George Winery.
The Dining Dome at Lake George Winery offers an exclusive and intimate setting for private events, accommodating 15 to 20 guests. Nestled within the picturesque winery, the dome provides breathtaking views of the rolling vineyards, creating a stunning backdrop for any occasion.
The Cellar Door at Lake George Winery offers a welcoming and immersive wine-tasting experience, where guests can taste and purchase from a selection of 16 different homegrown and locally produced wines. Open 10am – 5pm Wednesday through Sunday, closed Monday and Tuesday.
