Ratho Farm

Historic farm wedding venue, golf course & accommodation

Bothwell, TAS

About this venue

Discover Ratho Farm in Bothwell, Tasmania — a unique destination for golf, boutique accommodation and unforgettable weddings. Since we opened the doors to the public in late 2014 we've enjoyed having many diverse and well received gatherings of friends and family over a memorable three day getaway. We encourage our weddings to make full use of the property, and believe that going away for a wedding as a group ensures the event is not just another diary note, but is in itself an unforgettable series of refreshing events and lasting memories for everyone. We treat any wedding as a great honour to host. Ratho Farm's first wedding was 187 years ago, in 1829. The accommodation at Ratho Farm consists of several old farm buildings lovingly restored into boutique rooms. Equipped with modern features but still retaining elements of the original masonry and carpentry, the result is a beautiful fusion of old and new. Ratho Farm can accommodate singles, twins, as well as entire families or groups in adjoining rooms. Each room has an en suite, a fridge, as well as tea and coffee making facilities. Up to 40 people can stay in our ensuite rooms throughout the convict cottages and farm barns down by the Clyde River. The Convict Cottages consist of two cottages: The Bakery and The Verandah Cottage. The Bakery is a two-bedroom standalone cottage and the Verandah cottage consists of three separate suites of varying sizes. On the banks of the Clyde River, dusk and dawn regularly reveal the resident platypus, or prancing peacocks and grazing deer along the riverbank. The Stables features four one-bedroom suites downstairs in the Cookhouse (the Lounge, the Office, the Tack Room and the Master Bedroom), and two two-bedroom suites upstairs in the Granary Loft (the Attic Loft and the Chimney Loft). The challenge and charm of Ratho Farm are unequaled in Australia. Following in the traditions of Old Scotland, Ratho Farm remains a public course. Guided by old maps, scorecards, photographs, and local legend, the accurate restoration of six lost holes stimulates and challenges today's longer hitters.

Golf

The challenge and charm of Ratho Farm are unequaled in Australia. Following in the traditions of Old Scotland, Ratho Farm remains a public course. Guided by old maps, scorecards, photographs, and local legend, the accurate restoration of six lost holes stimulates and challenges today's longer hitters, in spite of the comparatively short length of some holes.

Group Accommodation & Corporate Retreats

Ratho Farm also caters for large groups; whether you are looking for a corporate retreat, a huge family event that utilizes the entire property, or just a weekend golf trip away with a few mates! Accommodation starts from $149 for the room and 1 person, and $50pp after that (maximum of 5 people into our 2 room apartments).

The Convict Cottages

The Convict Cottages consist of two cottages: The Bakery and The Verandah Cottage. On the banks of the Clyde River, dusk and dawn regularly reveal the resident platypus, or prancing peacocks and grazing deer along the riverbank.

The Stables

The Stables features four one-bedroom suites downstairs in the Cookhouse (the Lounge, the Office, the Tack Room and the Master Bedroom), and two two-bedroom suites upstairs in the Granary Loft (the Attic Loft and the Chimney Loft). The Cookhouse Kitchen is a common-area for the Cookhouse guests, and great for gathering together when groups book the whole Stables complex.
